Mary Jo & Murali were an amazing couple to work with during the late summer season! Mary Jo is Irish Catholic and Murali is Indian, so they had an magnificent multicultural wedding. Their wedding was planned and executed in a short 5 months. The wedding’s venue was held at the incredible, President Lincoln’s Cottage in Washington, D.C.. Mary Jo & Murali were a full planning couple meaning the design was heavy to tie all of their details together.
One of the main themes we focused on for this wedding was to give off an elevated summer garden party. We focused heavily on using bright, bold, jewel toned colors to really make the most of the season.
Before their personally planned celebration together, M & M had an entire multi-day wedding week. There was one day for Murali’s Indian culture, one for Mary Jo’s Catholic church ceremony, and one for the couples preferences to celebrate together. Mary Jo gets henna done for her wedding day in order to show her love and respect for Murali and his culture. It is so heartwarming to experience the love between multicultural marriages.
This beautiful ceremony would not be complete without the florals provided by She Loves Me. The flowers matched perfectly to the theme that the overall wedding had and Holley from their team truly guided us into picking the most perfect blooms for their occasion. With her floral expertise and help, everything felt so warm and comforting.
Cocktail hour was full of laughter and love! This amazing event took place outside as the summer evening began to cool. Mary Jo and Murali’s dog, Chance, made a big appearance throughout the details. Chance is so special to this great couple that he had to be involved as much as possible. Throughout our planning, we created a pet portrait of his face that was then used on their menu cards and napkins. We had to be sure Chance was there is spirit, well after he made his celebrity appearance!
The reception was held under a big, clear tent. The clear aspect gave the whole experience as very airy feel. The night included a delicious plated dinner service and fun live music from Two Rivers Chamber Music. When the sun disappeared under the horizon, the tent was lit up by golden string lights to bring out the romance. It was indeed, a perfect summer evening.
