J&C reached out to Angelica & Co Weddings from their home in Vermont. With planning their DC wedding from afar, they knew they’d need expert help to make it all happen. Cue our team! After many weeks of searching for the perfect location, they landed on the lovely historic property & gardens at Tudor Place.
We had 6 months to fulfill their vision within their Full Planning package, identifying vendors that would perfectly compliment their Chinese-American ceremony with traditional elements weaved in throughout their day.
The Couple wanted to use the color red as a symbol of good luck and fortune, using it tastefully and sparingly. Chinese figurines were gifted to the bride by her mother in anticipation of her wedding day when she was younger, and they were waiting in the wings for this perfect moment to shine!
The vendors selected were very much tailored to the Couple’s values, with Shine Tina offering beautiful makeup and hair styling services for the bridal party at their getting ready location, The Line Hotel.
The couple had their first look in the gardens surrounding their venue when they first arrived from The LINE Hotel.
The bride wore a red Chinese wedding dress and a white American dress throughout different parts of the day to illustrate their duality in cultures.
The ceremony took place at the “Bowling Green” on site at Tudor Place, and with a maximum capacity of 75 guests, they were able to have a very intimate and personal exchange of vows with 60 of their closest relatives. One of their best friends officiated as the Two Rivers Chamber Music string quartet played throughout the ceremony.
After their ceremony, they held a Chinese Tea Ceremony. Tea ceremonies are a long established cultural wedding custom where newlyweds serve tea to their elders out of respect for older generations and in turn gain acceptance of the marriage, symbolizing the union of the two families.
Cocktail Hour was held on the grassy lawn near the historic manor home, overlooking their Sperry sail cloth tent and decorated with string lights. The ambience was enhanced by the string quartet that created fresh & breezy spring vibes.
The reception was held under the sailcloth tent, where clean lines and simple colors were our main focus. The Couple wanted to incorporate red in a way that was nonintrusive or dominating, so we introduced shades of pink to their palette to help create a softer balance.
The Florals provided by Cedar and Lime Co. were an inviting mixture of warm pinks, coral and pops of red. They shared a plated dinner with their guests, where their family and friends toasted their well being and wished the couple good luck in their marriage. To seal the deal, the Couple cut their gorgeous cake provided by their caterer, Corcoran Caterers.
The afterparty moved back to the Line Hotel where they had Marylands DJ shake things up and guests enjoyed savory and sweet late night snacks provided by ____ & danced the night away!
