A Summer Charlottesville Wedding at Potter’s Craft Cider

January 21, 2025

When Morgan and Lionel first came to us, they were full of excitement and anticipation for their wedding day. Referred by one of our beloved past couples, they immediately felt like family. Their vision? A vibrant summer wedding in Charlottesville that celebrated not only their love but also their community, their shared story, and the beautiful region that has captured their hearts. The venue? The idyllic Potter’s Craft Cider — a perfect backdrop for their bright, cheerful day.

A Summer Mountain Celebration

Nestled just outside the iconic Downtown Mall of Charlottesville, Potter’s Craft Cider offers a picturesque blend of rustic charm and modern elegance. As guests arrived, they were greeted by the venue’s rolling green lawns, the Blue Ridge Mountains stretching out in the background, and a gentle summer breeze carrying the scent of blooming wildflowers. Morgan and Lionel’s cobalt blue, marigold yellow, and crimson red palette popped beautifully against the natural surroundings, setting the tone for a day filled with joy, laughter, and vibrant energy.

A Weekend of Local Love

Morgan and Lionel wanted their wedding to be more than just a single day — they envisioned a weekend experience that showcased the best of Charlottesville’s local charm. Guests had the chance to enjoy local treats and Charlottesville staples like Monticello Mountain Honey, Gearharts Fine Chocolates, and small bottles of Potter’s Craft Cider to sip while exploring the town.

The rehearsal dinner was held at a Charlottesville favorite, Monsoon Siam, where their closest friends and family enjoyed some of the towns best Thai cuisine. Morgan and Lionel’s left there and headed to Kardinal Hall where they continued to set the tone for a weekend rooted in love, friendship, and community.

Thoughtful Details, Cheerful Design

Every detail of the wedding day was chosen with intention. Morgan and Lionel worked closely with our team to bring their vision to life, infusing their day with thoughtful touches that reflected their personalities and their love story. The ceremony took place beneath a grand oak tree, draped in garlands of marigold and crimson blooms. Guests sat on white wooden chairs adorned with cobalt blue ribbons, creating a scene straight out of a summer dream.

The reception décor was equally stunning. Long farm tables were set with marigold-yellow linens, cobalt blue glassware, and crimson red floral arrangements that seemed to dance in the sunlight. Each place setting featured a personalized thank-you note from Morgan and Lionel, a nod to their deep gratitude for the friends and family who had supported them along their journey.

A Celebration of Love and Friendship

One of the most memorable moments of the day came during the couple’s vows. Morgan’s voice wavered with emotion as she spoke of Lionel’s unwavering support and the laughter they share. Lionel’s vows were equally heartfelt, expressing his gratitude for the friendship that blossomed into a love he never imagined. There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd.

The evening transitioned into a lively celebration beneath a canopy of string lights. Local bluegrass band Chamomile and Whiskey kept the dance floor packed, blending classic hits with modern tunes. Guests sipped on Potter’s Craft Cider’s signature blends, along with a custom cocktail created just for the occasion — a refreshing mix of cider, local peach purée, and a splash of bourbon.

The Sweetest Farewell

As the night drew to a close, Morgan and Lionel shared one last dance beneath the stars, surrounded by their loved ones holding sparklers. It was a moment of pure magic, a perfect ending to a day filled with so much love and joy.

Guests departed with cider donuts from a local bakery and small potted succulents as favors, a sweet reminder of the day and a nod to the couple’s love for nature.

A Bright and Beautiful Beginning

Morgan and Lionel’s wedding at Potter’s Craft Cider was everything they dreamed of and more — a celebration that was as bright and beautiful as their love. It was a privilege to help them bring their vision to life and to witness the joy that radiated from every moment. We’ll never forget the way the Blue Ridge Mountains seemed to glow that evening, a fitting reflection of the warmth and light that Morgan and Lionel bring to everyone around them.

Here’s to a lifetime of love, laughter, and community — and to many more celebrations in the heart of Charlottesville’s summer magic.
