As wedding planners at Angelica & Co, we’ve had the honor of orchestrating countless love stories, each with its own unique charm and beauty. Annelise and Mayur’s Taylor Swift inspired summer wedding at The Hay-Adams, located in the heart of Washington, D.C., was nothing short of magical. What made their celebration particularly special was their vibrant personalities, reflected in every detail, from the bold floral choices to the heartfelt moments shared throughout the day.

Annelise and Mayur’s wedding day was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of their distinct cultural backgrounds. As they prepared for the festivities ahead, the air was filled with anticipation and excitement. Annelise, hailing from Australia, donned a stunning white gown, her bridal ensemble a nod to tradition with a modern twist. Meanwhile, Mayur, the most handsome and kind-hearted Indian groom, adorned himself in a classic tuxedo, looking fresh and dapper for the excitement to come.

The Hay-Adams Room provided a picturesque and grand backdrop for Annelise and Mayur’s exchange of vows. Against a wild garden of blooming daisy flowers by Springvale Floral, the couple stood, radiating joy and love. Daisies in particular are a fan favorite of the brides, reminding her of one of her favorite childhood memories while growing up in Australia. As Annelise walked down the daisy aisle with her father, she approached Mayur with the biggest smile on her face. The ceremony was light and fun, and they even built in a moment for their journalist guests to have a “social media moment”, where they whipped out their phones to take a quick picture. Everything, of course, in the tune of our goddess, Taylor Swift. As the ceremony ended, they finished with a kiss and a signature on their marriage license!

Following the ceremony, our team ushered guests up the Hay Adam’s gold elevators upstairs to the rooftop, where guests were invited to indulge in a cocktail hour filled with delectable treats and refreshing drinks. The outdoor terrace had a breathtaking view of the White House, and cocktail tables were stationed with fun floral arrangements, creating a lively atmosphere. As friends and family mingled, laughter and conversation filled the air, setting the stage for an evening of celebration.

Did you spy a childhood favorite game, Hungry Hungry Hippos? Your eyes aren’t fooling you, friends! Hungry Hungry Hippos was a game the bride and groom played on their very first date. Our team at Angelica & Co had to ensure it made a celebrity appearance at their wedding for memory-sake. All while, of course, listening to piano covers of classic Taylor Swift songs.

The couple wanted to include as many fun, nostalgic elements as possible into their cocktail hour, including Australian fairy bread, a delicious bread covered in sprinkles. In partnership with Springvale Floral, our team built an escort display covered in sprinkles to evoke feelings of nostalgia for their Australian guests and add a pop of fun color in the center of the room.

As guests mingled, we transformed the other side of the Top of the Hay grand ballroom into a haven of elegance and romance for the reception. Tables were adorned with vibrant centerpieces bursting with pink and red blooms, creating a feast for the eyes.

Annelise and Mayur’s love for bold colors and light hearted fun was evident in every detail, from the linens to the place settings, infusing the space with warmth and vitality. Our team took on the task of creating, designing, and printing their wedding-day paper pieces; a service we offer to our couples at Angelica & Co! We had the best time designing their paper pieces in shades of red and pink: their welcome sign, menus, guest place cards and personalized “table numbers” named after the couple’s favorite Taylor Swift Songs, giving a friendly feeling to the tablescape.

We made sure to sit the newlyweds at our favorite table, Champagne Problems, as a comedic nod.

With signature drinks in hand, Annelise & Mayur made their grand entrance into the reception room. Heartfelt toasts were exchanged and the room was glowing with love and appreciation. As dinner was served, guests were treated to a culinary experience befitting the occasion by The Hay Adams.

As the evening progressed, the Top of the Hay came alive with music and laughter as Annelise and Mayur shared their first dance as husband and wife. Guests joined them on the dance floor, celebrating love and life in all its splendor. The night views of Washington D.C. were exceptional, creating lasting memories for all who attended.
